Mass
Changes |
|
The following
articles were written by Fr. Joseph Shaute, the Pastor of St.
Clement's Catholic Church, for the weekly Bulletin. In
November, 2009,
the U.S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops approved the English translation of the third edition of the
Roman Missal/Sacramentary (main prayer book of the Mass). What
this means is that sometime in late-2010 or early-2011, we will begin
using the new edition which involves the biggest changes to the Mass
since the late 1960s. The prayers, responses, and other parts of the
Mass are going to change, some more noticeably than others. The
following articles explain more fully why these changes make our Mass
more meaningful. The Following articles are downloadable in

New Translation |
“The Lord be with you,” the people respond: “And also
with you.” The response in Latin is “et
cum spiritu tuo” which literally translates: “And with
your spirit.” |

Words Will
Change |
Many
of the prayers, responses, the Gloria, the Nicene Creed, and some
hymns and songs will change. |
